Posting tech resources for teacher use. How can we improve the organization of our growing set of hand-outs, tutorials, PPTs, etc. ? (Tom)
BIG QUESTION - will we be using GroupWise next year? (Tom)
ANOTHER BIG QUESTION - what is the future of Novell in our Mac environment? Will we maintain the current set of servers? (Tom)

Morning
Orientation PD outline discussed and presented by Amanda. Members added items to the list.
Going green from day one by encouraging a paperless environment in MS/HS.
Create screencast tutorials for school specific technology if it is not on Atomic Learning.
Discussion on presenting AUP this spring. It was decided that Integrationists will introduce it to teachers at staff meetings who will then present it to students in homerooms.
Discussion on families getting their own insurance. Parents need to be made aware of this need.
Security issues for the laptops were discussed. Simon Power suggested the school putting in place bars attached to the wall so that students can lock their laptops to them. (Outside PE and Band rooms were suggested)
Andy will talk to principals about making it clear that teachers who are getting Mac laptops will have their desktops taken away.
Discussions on updates and bandwidth.
Don will add doing OS updates at home to the Laptop Handbook.
Disucssion on the needs for the MS labs for next year. Andy suggested Tom and Pat have this discussion with their principals. The MS/HS principals on the Puxi side need to select a space for the Apple service center.

Later in the year, in-services will be provided for the entire staff.

Watched a video on Apple deployment.
Using PD funds to purchase hardware/software: TWill be he point was brought up that there is a current way of ordering software which is reviewed by the tech department to verify that it can be supported and it will run on our system. If teachers by pass this sytem, then problems may occur.
Will we still be using Groupwise next year?: yes
Will we still be using Novell. Yes. in the short term and possibly long term.
Software issues. Most have been tested and only two pieces won't make the transistion.
Discussion on Apple certification and conference in Hong Kong. Contact Andy if you would like to attend this conference.
Discussion on summer conferences. A Ning discussion is being made to open up this discussion.
Communication Plan to be completed by Feb 25th. Submit drafts to the sasdigitalleaders wiki. John & Amanda for staff, Tom & Kris for students. Andy and Don for communication. Andy will send out laptop specifications to members sending out communication Please include concerns about pieces of software teachers are using on PC side that they feel they cannot get on Apple platform.
By Wednesday, please add and/or edit items in the Goggle Document about the 20 steps. DOn & Andy will compile this document.
